A lesson almost gone wrong

I was trying to teach Faith a lesson on how to treat others’ property. She had smashed our screen door out of anger then after being put on the naughty chair started hitting the chair and screaming. You say, no, not Faith, she’s an angel. Not all the time!

Anyway, I sat her down on her bed after she calmed down and was explaining to her it isn’t nice to smash anything, especially things that don’t belong to you. Then I said “Mommy & Daddy don’t have enough money to replace the screen door if you broke it!” Without batting an eye lash Faith said “you have money in the van, Daddy.” I had to think about it, but finally I said that it was only some change in the van, not enough to pay for a new screen door. Thankfully she accepted that.

Can I kiss it better?

Remember when you were a child and you would come to your parents with a “boo-boo” and ask them to kiss it better? I do. Well, as you probably have guessed, I have been doing the same with my own kids. One of those traditions parents pass down from generation to generation, I guess. Anyway, I have a cute story about the tradition for you:

I had a huge headache tonight (still do) and I was rubbing my head in front of Faith. She asked me “what’s wrong Daddy?” I told I have a headache. Then she asked “does it hurt?” I told her “very much so.” Then she asked “can I kiss it better, Daddy?” I told her “yes.” And she kissed my forehead. Then she asked “where does it hurt, Daddy?” As she pointed to the middle of my forehead, “here?” I told her “yes.” And she proceeded to kiss the middle of my forehead a couple of times. Then she said “all better!” And jumped into bed.

Amazing how she has already picked up much of what we say and do. Thankfully it is good things. haha.

Put me to work!

I just put Shawn to bed then came downstairs to put Faith to bed. This is the conversation the ensued between us…

Faith: I don’t want to nap. Me: not nap Baby, bed. Faith: I don’t want to go to bed. I want to work. Me: [jokingly I said] go see Mommy, she’ll put you to work [because De-Ann was cleaning up after our supper with the D’Souza family]. Faith runs into the kitchen to Mom & screams: put me to work!
