My wife sent these pictures to me last Sunday with the caption “Reading our Bibles after church…. Good little PKs.”

A lesson almost gone wrong

I was trying to teach Faith a lesson on how to treat others’ property. She had smashed our screen door out of anger then after being put on the naughty chair started hitting the chair and screaming. You say, no, not Faith, she’s an angel. Not all the time!

Anyway, I sat her down on her bed after she calmed down and was explaining to her it isn’t nice to smash anything, especially things that don’t belong to you. Then I said “Mommy & Daddy don’t have enough money to replace the screen door if you broke it!” Without batting an eye lash Faith said “you have money in the van, Daddy.” I had to think about it, but finally I said that it was only some change in the van, not enough to pay for a new screen door. Thankfully she accepted that.

Faith & her new bike

Everyone was right, Faith finally started to ride her bike. And she likes it. Watch this video of her and Shawn enjoying their bikes.

It’s cute how Shawn gets out of Faith’s way when they meet up, not the other way around. I guess he knows who is his older sister. haha.

BIG screen TV!

I walked into Costco today and this is what was starring me back in the face. It wasn’t hard to miss! I put the kids in front of iit to show how big it really is. Also you will notice the 55″ which used to be the biggest screen made is dwarfed by this 80″.

Faith’s birthday & Canada Day 2013

As you all know by now on our street and in our community we have a huge celebration for Canada Day that ends with fireworks. We are so thankful for great neighbours that like to work together to have fun. This year we had our celebration on Sunday, Jun 3o so that we don’t have to get up early the next morning to go to work. Good call.

The night before we painted the Canadian flag on the street like we do every year, this year we made the flag a bit bigger. It’s always fun painting the street with my neighbours.

Also we celebrated a special birthday for Faith as well. She turned 5. We had over all our friends and family that we love so much. Many of our close friends weren’t able to make it this year but it worked out great with Denita and her family coming over and DJ and Caitlyn. Faith just loves these guys. Hopefully next year we can have all those over that couldn’t make it. I guess I need to get the invitations out much earlier next year.

De-Ann outdid herself again with BBQ’d ribs, souvlaki and cupcakes for dessert. Everything was delicious. Each person brought over a salad and some dip, also delicious. Faith had her very own special cupcake with candles in it and everything.

Everyone gave Faith very special gifts. She rec’d a tent with finger puppets, necklace, bracelet and a ring (which she immediately put on and didn’t take off until she went to bed), word search and princess puzzle, and from us her very own bike (with training wheels). Unfortunately Faith wasn’t as enthused about the bike as I was but eventually she warmed up to riding it after DJ and I lowered the seat. It wasn’t until today (July 1) that she actually really rode it, but that’s another story and post.

This year our street was full everyone who lives on the street (almost everyone) invited their friends so we had more people on the street then every before. There was even some dancing going on, Faith and Shawn even got into it. I learned Faith and Shawn are quite the dancers, unfortunately.

It was so great to have other streets from our community join us for the celebration, especially at the end when we lit off the fireworks. Another great job by our organizers Ryan and John. Can’t wait for next year. Enjoy the pictures below.

Wow, my little girl is five years old today. I remember like it was yesterday we were visiting her in the foster home and she was just a baby. See below a few pictures of her from 7 months old to today. Kinda a fun gallery of the changes in our little five year old. [Picture 1: 7 months old, 2: 1 year, 3: 2 years, 4: 3 years, 5: 4 years, 6: 5 years old – today!]
