Green says “go”

We were sitting at a stop light and the light turned green. Faith said “Daddy green says go!” I drove off. We came up to the next stop light and Faith said “Red says stop, Daddy!”

I thought it was cool she not only knew the colours but knew what they meant. Funny how she says “says” as opposed to “means.”

Busy day

What a full day today.

I played 18 holes with a friend early this morning. Got home just in enough time to put my clubs in the garage, then De-Ann and I drove to Ikea to pick up some much needed furniture for her office. It used to be our Dining Room.

BTW…We are so thankful for our new van and the full stow and go seats–they all fold into the floor so we can put anything in there. Like long boxes from Ikea. I almost feel like I have my truck back. Key word: almost.

We dropped off the furniture at home. Quickly jumped into the van to pick up the kids from daycare. Almost forgot we had to put the two front seats back up in place and attach the car seats to them so we have a place for the kids to sit. Haha.

Then we drove East of Toronto to visit with some old friends. Spent the evening there and we are just getting home now. And wouldn’t you know it, the kids just dozed off a minute from us pulling into the driveway. Uggh!

They are finally in bed now and fast asleep. Now my turn. Good night my blog, Facebook & Twitter friends.

Walmart & Faith

I don’t know what it is about Wal-mart but our daughter Faith has an infinity for the place. Even since she could speak she has tried to say the name. She gets very excited when I tell her we are going there, even if it is to buy diapers or something that no child should be excited about.

She has been trying to say the name for a very long time. At first it was “wall-mitt.” Then it was “wall-matt” and most recently it is “wall-mert.” Hopefully someday, maybe when she is a teenager, maybe, she will be able to say the right name. haha.

I have to tell you about one of the many humorous stories about Faith and Walmart that actually happened tonight. We were visiting some friends just East of Toronto and heading back home, we heard the dreaded “I have to go potty” coming from Faith. So we asked if she could hold it and she said “yes” then we started to brainstorm where to stop, that’s when De-Ann said there is a Walmart just up here on the right (because we used to live in this area). De-Ann proceeded to tell Faith that will be stopping for her to go potty and it was Walmart. She made her usual excited noise “huuuuuh!” and quietly whispered to Shawn “I love it!” I couldn’t help but laugh!

Kids perspective

I walk into the room and ask the kids where their Mommy is.

Shawn say “Mommy is playing outside.” Then Faith says, “No, she’s putting something in the oven.”

Finally De-Ann opens the back door from backyard and it is obvious she is coming from putting something on the BBQ. I told her what the kids said we both laugh.

Can I kiss it better?

Remember when you were a child and you would come to your parents with a “boo-boo” and ask them to kiss it better? I do. Well, as you probably have guessed, I have been doing the same with my own kids. One of those traditions parents pass down from generation to generation, I guess. Anyway, I have a cute story about the tradition for you:

I had a huge headache tonight (still do) and I was rubbing my head in front of Faith. She asked me “what’s wrong Daddy?” I told I have a headache. Then she asked “does it hurt?” I told her “very much so.” Then she asked “can I kiss it better, Daddy?” I told her “yes.” And she kissed my forehead. Then she asked “where does it hurt, Daddy?” As she pointed to the middle of my forehead, “here?” I told her “yes.” And she proceeded to kiss the middle of my forehead a couple of times. Then she said “all better!” And jumped into bed.

Amazing how she has already picked up much of what we say and do. Thankfully it is good things. haha.
