Staff Christmas party 2011

We had our staff Christmas party this past Sunday at our Sr Pastor’s home. This is my second Christmas party since I joined the staff at City Centre Church.

We had such a great time. We ate chinese food, chatted, hung out and played some games. Some of the staff even got caught up in watching the football game.

We played a game where we had to guess who did something from their childhood to prove we knew each other. The funny thing was the person who won was the husband of our office administrator. He told me he guessed as he answered all the questions. Here are a few of the facts: in grade 5, on stage for a Christmas musical who peed their pants; who was so quiet as a kid that their teachers thought they had a learning disability; who was so shy as a kid that they would hide under the bed, who wanted to be a marine biologist when they were a kid; who didn’t have running water at home until they were 8 years old. Some others are who had a chance to fly a 78 piper plane, who played 5 instruments as a kid, who wore a pony tail in high school (hint it wasn’t a girl), and who was mistaken for a guy up until grade 8? There were others, but you get the gist.

After the game Pastor Deric and his wife April took a few minutes to affirm each member of the team and their spouse. Deric spoke directly to the men and April to the women. They were so kind and encouraging and used Scripture to affirm with. It was such a great moment in time to be encouraged by our “boss.” I just love him and this team and am so thankful God brought us to this church!

We finished off the night with a fun Christmas game I have played in so many settings … with children, teens, young adults, adults … with as many as 60 people and as little as 10 and everything in between. You’ve probably guessed it: Yankee Swap! I am sure there are many other names for it but it is always a fun time. And it isn’t Christmas without it.

We also had a fun contest as to who will wear the ugliest sweater. Of course DJ (picture #1 & 2), our crazy, creative, and talented custodian, won first prize, but Donnette (picture #3 & 4) and Aaron came in 2nd place. Check out the pictures below. Fun stuff.
