2011 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 6,200 times in 2011. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 5 trips to carry that many people.

Such a good sister

As many of you who have been following my blog for a long time know that Faith has been having a hard time adjusting to having a little brother. She has done many things to him to let him know she was here first. But once and a while she does something unexpected and so loving. She really does truly love her little brother.

An example is today at lunch time. Shawn was really struggling with finishing his meal and Faith quickly gobbled up hers. This lunch was special because De-Ann (Mommy) promised both kids a cookie when they finished up their lunch. So after Faith finished De-Ann gave Faith a cookie. After it was put on her plate Faith sat there and starred at it. I thought it was strange but I was more concentrating on helping Shawn finish his meal so he got a cookie.

Throughout the ordeal of trying to get Shawn to finish his lunch Faith continued to sit there starring at her cookie. Finally De-Ann asked why she hadn’t ate it yet. Faith with a calm voice said “I have to wait for Shawn.” So we left it at that and continued to help Shawn with his cucumbers. A couple of times I looked over and Faith was licking the cookie, but then put it back on the plate. One other time she was taking little pieces off it and again put it back on the plate. Finally De-Ann said “you can eat it Baby. You don’t have to wait for Shawn.” She said, “no, have to wait for Shawn Mommy.” We both smiled and thought the same thing… “she’s such a good sister.”

The rest of the story is, Shawn finally finished his cucumbers and got his cookie then, and only then, Faith was able to eat her cookie–in her mind, that is.

Hide-N-seek

It was a family affair:

The kids and I just played hide-N-seek. I (Daddy) did the hiding & the kids did the seeking. And Mommy helped them count to 10 before they went to go and find me.

We played 4 rounds and they found me every time. One round they were wondering up and down the hallway saying “where’s Daddy?” I had to give myself a way by taping on the closet door I was hiding in. Eventually Shawn came to the door to “let” me out. And every time they found me they smiled and screamed as loud as they could with excitement. It was very noisy but lots of fun.

Test post

Unfortunately my Twitter is not forwarding my tweets to my Facebook so I am doing a test to see if WordPress (my blog) is forwarding to Twitter and Facebook. Let’s hope this will narrow down my issue. Fingers crossed.

Pretty hair

Faith doesn’t usually enjoy getting her hair brushed so after I brush her hair I always tell her that her hair is pretty. And that usually appeases her for me to brush her hair.

She has an amazing memory, and remembers much of what we say at the most unusual times. Most of the time it is very amusing, and sometimes very embarrassing.

This morning while attempting to brush her hair, I told her again that her hair was pretty, but this time she didn’t want to let me brush her hair. She kept saying “no, no, no.” Then she took the brush from me and started to brush her Bunny Bear’s head and said “pretty hair.” Then she started to brush my hair and said “pretty hair Daddy!” Then she laughed uncontrollably! It was so cute.

Jesus’ birthday!

We were driving on our way to our Christmas Eve services and I asked Faith what tomorrow was. Without missing a beat she said “Jesus’ birthday, Daddy!” Then she said “we are going to singing happy birthday to Jesus and give him a birthday cake.”

Then on the way home from church she repeated that it was Jesus’ birthday again. This time she was talking to Shawn and tell him how important it was to remember his birthday tomorrow.
