Courageous men’s small group

Tonight we started our men’s only small group by going to see the movie Courageous. What an amazing way to start. I think it was a powerful movie and really got us as men talking afterwards and excited about our new small group.

Courageous is a movie about four police officers. When a tragedy strikes close to home, these men struggle with their faith and their roles as husbands and fathers; together they make a decision that will change all of their lives. I don’t want to give it away but at the end of the movie one of the officers challenges all the men he is speaking to stand up and be the man God has called them to be. What at great challenge for all us men!

It was so great to see so many men from our church at the movie tonight and ready to go for our small group next Thursday. Some guys were there that didn’t even sign-up for the group. I think we represented 90% of the people in the theatre. We even met some guys from another church in Mississauga who hung out with us in the lobby afterwards. It was so cool.

We all agree this small group is going to be really good for us as husbands, fathers and men. I am even going to see if I can find the Resolution that is mentioned in the movie so we can read it over and possibly follow it to be better spiritual leaders both in our home and at our church.

So we start our small group discussion and study next Thursday as we discuss responsibility, our responsibility as husbands and fathers. It’s going to be powerful.

I can’t wait to get together with these guys and learn, grow, and study together. Because we are all from different walks of life, span all ages and different places in our spiritual journey, I know we can learn so much from each other. Should be fun and challenging at the same time.
