My journey thru the Bible

September 14, 2010 at 3:55 PM Leave a comment

Sometime last year I started a huge project of journalling through every book of the Bible. I figure it will take me at least 8 years. haha. Anyway, I thought I would share with you each day for the many years to come, a passage and what I have learned. So if you are interested come along with me on a journey through God’s Word.

I will be answering 3 simple questions each day and I would love to hear from you what you are learning as we journey together. So please leave me your comments (click on the word bubble to the left on any of the posts). Here are the questions:

1. WHAT DOES IT SAY? (What does this section of scripture say to me? What do I think the author is trying to say in these verses to the reader or the original audience?)

2. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO ME? (When I look at these verse, what do I think they mean personally to me?)

3. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO ABOUT IT? (How can I take these verses and apply them to my life right now? How can I take these verses and use them today or tomorrow in my everyday walk?)

There will be times where I share struggles and other times where I share victories. Many times I will include a prayer that I wrote out. I would suggest if you are going to go on this journey with me to pray before you open up your Bible and ask God to take away any distractions (both good or bad) and to help you concentrate. To help you to learn something or at least be reminded of something during your time with him. That is my prayer every time I continue my journey.

Then open your Bible with a notebook and pen/pencil and see what we can learn together. Studying the Bible is NOT like doing homework, it is like reading a love letter but you want to remember specific things the author it writing you. But unlike a love letter, you want to take what you have studied and make it relevant and real in your life from day to day. That’s why we refer to our Christian life as a journey or walk.

The great thing about this way of studying is that in a couple of years you will have not only read the whole Bible but you will have written your OWN commentary on the Bible that you can share with others. And I will have an online version of mine. haha.

Are you ready to start this journey? Follow me as I follow Jesus!
