Going to the carwash with Faith

Faith usually enjoys the carwash but today was an interesting trip to and through the carwash. Let me explain. And feel free to laugh.

I told Faith we were leaving for the carwash and she said “no, don’t want go carwash!” I told her that was fine and left her with De-Ann and Shawn to play while I went to take the car for a wash. I was about to leave and De-Ann came running to the door and told me Faith wants to go afterall. So I grabbed a carseat and put it in my car, then put Faith inside and we left.

As we were leaving the house Faith was all of a sudden, very excited about going to the carwash. She kept saying “Daddy, we going carwash?” I told her “yes” and she said “Yeaaah Daddy!”

As we were getting closer to the gas station where the carwash was Faith kept asking about the carwash and I told her “Daddy was driving and it was quiet time” (we usually say this to Faith to give ourselves a breather from her 400 questions on a road trip). To my surprise she said “no Daddy, I’m driving.” Too cute.

When we finally got to the gas station there is no entrance from the main street so we had to go down a side street and do a 3-point turn. As I was doing this Faith was saying “Daddy, I want carwash, I want carwash!” I told her I had to turn around and we are definitely taking the car to the carwash. She seemed okay with that explanation as I continued to pull into the gas station. I went through the ONE WAY entrance to the carwash and just as I was verifying my receipt Faith said “Daddy, I don’t want to carwash…I scared!” I remindered her of all the times she enjoyed the carwash in the past. She continued to say “I scared Daddy.” By this time there were other cars behind me and my receipt had been accepted…it was only a matter of time before we got inside the carwash. I continued to reassure Faith as to how much fun we have had in the past. She continued to say she was scared. Finally the water and foam started. I could see she was going to possibly cry so I started to commentate everything that was happening. That seemed to appease her and she started to get excited again. Actually laughing and enjoying the carwash.

As we were nearing the end of the carwash–the drying, Faith was saying “almost done Daddy.” Then “all done Daddy.” Then she shocked me after all the fear and trepidation, she said “Daddy, let’s do it again!” I couldn’t help but laugh. That is my schizophrenic daughter for you. Too funny.
