I told Faith we were leaving for the carwash and she said “no, don’t want go carwash!” I told her that was fine and left her with De-Ann and Shawn to play while I went to take the car for a wash. I was about to leave and De-Ann came running to the door and told me Faith wants to go afterall. So I grabbed a carseat and put it in my car, then put Faith inside and we left.
As we were leaving the house Faith was all of a sudden, very excited about going to the carwash. She kept saying “Daddy, we going carwash?” I told her “yes” and she said “Yeaaah Daddy!”
As we were getting closer to the gas station where the carwash was Faith kept asking about the carwash and I told her “Daddy was driving and it was quiet time” (we usually say this to Faith to give ourselves a breather from her 400 questions on a road trip). To my surprise she said “no Daddy, I’m driving.” Too cute.
When we finally got to the gas station there is no entrance from the main street so we had to go down a side street and do a 3-point turn. As I was doing this Faith was saying “Daddy, I want carwash, I want carwash!” I told her I had to turn around and we are definitely taking the car to the carwash. She seemed okay with that explanation as I continued to pull into the gas station. I went through the ONE WAY entrance to the carwash and just as I was verifying my receipt Faith said “Daddy, I don’t want to carwash…I scared!” I remindered her of all the times she enjoyed the carwash in the past. She continued to say “I scared Daddy.” By this time there were other cars behind me and my receipt had been accepted…it was only a matter of time before we got inside the carwash. I continued to reassure Faith as to how much fun we have had in the past. She continued to say she was scared. Finally the water and foam started. I could see she was going to possibly cry so I started to commentate everything that was happening. That seemed to appease her and she started to get excited again. Actually laughing and enjoying the carwash.
As we were nearing the end of the carwash–the drying, Faith was saying “almost done Daddy.” Then “all done Daddy.” Then she shocked me after all the fear and trepidation, she said “Daddy, let’s do it again!” I couldn’t help but laugh. That is my schizophrenic daughter for you. Too funny.
Most of you already know our little family is finally complete with the addition of Shawn or as Faith likes to call him “Baby Shawn.” For the weekend of his very first visit to our home we had a get together of some of our closest friends from our current church to hangout, eat, play, frolick, and get to know Shawn. Oh ya, it was also the weekend of Faith’s birthday so we threw in a cake and some presents for her.
It was a fantastic time and Shawn wasn’t as shy as we thought he would be. He even sat on the lap of one of our friends that is a Grandpa himself. Shawn played with Faith on our newly acquired climber/slide (thanks Donnette!) and enjoy some food, but mostly sat as close to me as possible. I guess I am his safety blanket. haha. Oh ya, we finished off our afternoon with a small tour of our almost-finished basement.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. Take note of how much Faith enjoyed her cake. All over her face and body, even her legs. A special thank you to JC for the photography work.
Incase you didn’t know we moved into a great neighbourhood (the best) back in February and the people on our court are amazing. I love this community. On top of all that, this weekend was our first overnight visit with Shawn. Take a look at the pictures below starting with Thursday night where we painted a huge flag on the road in the court. It was so cool to see all our neighbours get together and work together. It was fun too!
The rest of the pictures are from Canada Day 2011 when we spent the afternoon playing in the court, having a huge BBQ where most people on the court had their BBQ’s on the ends of their driveways. After supper we had all the kids get together to make a huge banner. Faith got into the fun. She saw one of the older kids painting her hand so she could put a hand print on the banner. So Faith decided to paint both her hands, her arms and her shirt. Unfortunately we think the paint they gave to the kids is not water-based, so Faith has permanent green hands. We got most of the paint off the rest of her but her hands somehow stayed green.
You will see pictures of Faith and Shawn running around together. There are many pictures of Faith riding her new bike and others where Shawn is running behind Faith on someone else’s bike (did I mention everyone in the court shares?) Faith and Shawn fit in so great with the other many kids on our court. We had such a great time with our new neighbours.
At the end of the day we finished with a big fireworks display. I didn’t get any pictures of them but I can tell you Faith enjoyed them very much. At first she was scared but eventually we made it into a big game where we named the colours in the sky. Then Faith would say “pop” everytime the firecrakers went off. “Pop, pop, pop Daddy” and then she said “Daddy can I touch them?” She eventually really enjoyed the fireworks display. She can’t wait until next year to celebrate her birthday in style. Unfortunately Shawn didn’t enjoy them quite as much. He started to cry after the first firecraker went off so De-Ann took him into house and tried to watch from the window. Shawn had other plans, unfortuantely. Next year I will be the one in the house. It’s not fair De-Ann missed such a great show. Oh did I mention Faith turned 3 today?! What a great way to celebrate such a special day.
Faith not only got to have fun with over 60 people in our court, enjoy a yummy BBQ, watch the fireworks (for the first time), but she got to spend the whole day with her little brother Shawn (or as Faith calls him “Baby Shawn”).
I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed being there.
Another week has gone by, actually only 4 days and if you went downstairs in the basement you would think not much has been changed. However, even though it doesn’t look like, they did a lot of updating. I didn’t take any pictures because like I said you can’t tell by looking at the pictures.
So the crew went around the whole basement and filled in any blemishes with “mud” and proceeded to sand AGAIN! So more drywall dust. Ugggh! The only other thing they did was put the tiles in the base of the shower. Hopefully they will finish the rest of the shower tiles this week coming. Then I am hoping they will paint the 2nd coat on all the walls, and the put up the doors, the fireplace tiles and finally the flooring. Oh by the way the drywall is all up now, no more drywall. Yeah!
